The University of North Carolina Wilmington is entering its fourth year of a fellowship program that gives candidates with a Ph.D in a biotechnology-related science the opportunity to conduct research at its Center for Marine Science while earning an MBA from the university.

- Tami Klerr-Naivar, formerly vice president of clinical operations at InfaCare Pharmaceutical, has joined the Raleigh clinical research organization PRA International as senior vice president of business development.
- Durham-based Addrenex Pharmaceuticals has recently hired three key people to help propel its drug-development activities. Steven Butts, M.B.A., joined the firm as vice president of commercial operations. Gary Bream, Ph.D., is the new senior director of scientific affairs and Yuki Prescott has joined as clinical trials manager.
Monica Doss, former president of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, has joined the Kansas City, Missouri-based Kauffman Foundation as director of its FastTrac entrepreneur-training program. The 22-year CED veteran said she will continue to live and work primarily from her home in the Triangle area of North Carolina.
