Award Launched to Honor Martin Lancaster
The H. Martin Lancaster Biotechnology Faculty of the Year Award was unveiled Tuesday night at the Biotechnology Center. The annual award provides $500 for classroom supplies and equipment for the recipient, who will be one of the N.C. Community College System's biotechnology instructors.

Aldagen Begins Phase III Trial for Cord Blood Transplant Drug
Aldagen Inc., based in Durham, N.C., has begun a Phase III clinical trial of a drug to improve cord blood transplants that treat inherited pediatric metabolic diseases.

Honoring Martin Lancaster

Martin Lancaster speakingIt started as an associate degree program at Alamance Community College.

It's grown to include the entire North Carolina Community College System, the University of North Carolina System, the North Carolina Biosciences Organization and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. Funding is provided by the General Assembly and the Golden LEAF Foundation.

It is North Carolina's unparalleled training system for biotechnology workers. This week, the members of this unprecedented partnership spent an evening thanking the man who demonstrated the leadership to make it work.
