Oliver Smithies Faculty Recruitment Grant

The goal of this program is to aid recruitment of outstanding research faculty into tenure-track positions at the senior level to non-Research Extensive colleges and universities. It is expected that the recruit will significantly impact an academic institution's overall biotechnology research initiative. The intent of the FRG program is to recruit exceptional faculty that are new to North Carolina's universities. These awards are intended to increase an institution's competitive advantage in negotiations with the recruit.

Applications for FRG funding may be considered at any time. Duke, North Carolina State University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and their satellite campuses including the North Carolina Research Campus are ineligible for this program. Researchers at these institutions are encouraged to investigate other Biotechnology Center funding.

Note: Proposals for this grant may be submitted once the position has been formally advertised or after a formal offer has been extended but before a candidate accepts the position.

As early as possible in the recruiting process, applicants should alert the Biotechnology Center of an intention to submit a proposal. Call the Core Programs Director at 919-549-8842 or e-mail virginia_deluca@ncbiotech.org.

If you have consulted with Biotechnology Center staff and prepared your proposal materials, submit your application online.
