Other Funding Opportunities

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center provides multiple research and education grants. In addition, the Center also provides Regional Development Grants. Some agencies, like those found below, fund projects or programs specifically related to education or research. Also included are databases providing a broad range of opportunities.

    Developing the next generation of chemistry leaders – petroleum, alt. energy, green chemistry.
  • BioFuels Center of NC
    Facilitate and support the development of a sustainable biofuels industry across the state.
  • Cancer Research Portfolio
    One-stop Web site for information on cancer research and funding opportunities supported by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and participating Institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Community-Campus Partnerships for Health
    Promotes health (broadly defined) through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions.
  • FundSource
    Helps scientists find research funding designed to be specific to behavioral and social science research.
  • NC Board of Science and Technology
    Manages two programs. The Green Business Fund focuses on biofuels, green building and renewable energy industries. For Phase I SBIR/STTR grants, the Small Business Program provides funding to NC businesses for a portion of the fees incurred and to those who receive awards.
