No more magic bullets: combining Synthetic Biology with Bioinformatics for engineering medicine
Abstract
Synthetic biology, the discipline of engineering living systems through rational design, presents the exciting potential to precisely control the cellular location and activity of therapeutic proteins for cancer treatment and molecular switches for tissue regeneration. Dr. Hayes will present her work in designing proteins to regulate genes based on chromatin marks that are associated with cancer and stem cell states.
