EEG Application Instructions

Step 1: Read the EEG Electronic Application Instructions and Guidelines (henceforth referred to as the instructions and guidelines).

If after reading the instructions and guidelines you have any questions about the application process please contact Ginny DeLuca at 919-549-8842 or virginia_deluca@ncbiotech.org.

Step 2: Prepare the Proposal

Prepare the proposal as directed in the instructions and guidelines. Once it is complete, convert it directly to a PDF document. (Do not print and scan the proposal to convert into a PDF--it will be too large to submit.)

If you do not have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, the following Web sites offer free PDF conversion software:

We have provided an EEG Application Checklist for your convenience. See "Application Checklist" at the top right corner of this page.

Step 3: Complete the Education Enhancement Grant Budget Sheet (use only the online EEG budget sheet provided here.)

All funds requested on the budget sheet must be justified in the "Budget Explanation" section of your proposal as described in the instructions and guidelines. Please include ≥ 20% match of total funds requested from the Biotechnology Center, if you are applying from the main campus of Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill or NC State University. The percent match is indiated on the budget sheet. The budget sheet must be submitted as an Excel (.xls) file.

Step 4: Gather Letters of Support/Documentation

Combine the supporting letters listed below into a single PDF file prior to submission. You can either scan them all at once and then save as a PDF or convert to PDF format. You will need to attach this combined PDF file to your application form prior to submission (see Step 5). Note: Only one supporting documents file will be accepted.

Include signed letters of support from all those listed below that are appropriate:

  • An authorized budgetary official at your institution affirming knowledge of and support for your project (official should explicitly refer to any support being provided, including matching funds, if required). This official letter of support is required. (For your convenience a link to a template Institutional support/documentation letter that may be modified, as appropriate, by a budgetary official at your institution, has been provided above.)
  • External supporters (specific contributions, matching funding, long-term supporters) of your project
  • Your collaborators, to verify commitment to undertake activities

Step 5: Attach the Required Documents

Attach the three required files to the online application: (1) the proposal (PDF), (2) EEG online budget sheet (xls), and (3) the combined file containing all letters of support/documentation (PDF).

Step 6: Review and Submit Application

Review and submit your application prior to the grant program deadline. Remember the deadline is at noon on the due date.

Submission of your grant application indicates:

  • You have read and understand the information and directions in the EEG Electronic application Instructions and Guidelines document and agree to be bound by the conditions stated therein.
  • You release the North Carolina Biotechnology Center from any claim for damages caused by:
    1. Disclosures required under the provisions of any North Carolina or United States law, statute or regulation;
