Education Enhancement Grants (EEG) assist with the development of activities, programs, resources and personnel necessary to enhance biotechnology education and workforce training. The maximum award is $100,000.
North Carolina non-profit institutions, including K-12 schools, school systems, community colleges, colleges, universities and museums are eligible to apply.
Preproposals and full proposals must be submitted through our electronic application process; hardcopies, faxes and e-mail will not be accepted. There is one submission date per year.
Each proposal submitted to the program undergoes a two-step review process. The applicant submits a preproposal during the spring. Preposals received are evaluated by an Advisory Screening Panel; those proposals which are most competitive are invited to move forward to the second stage of review by submitting full proposals in August.
During the preproposal stage, applicants will submit preproposals for review. Preproproposals will be reviewed and applicants whose preproposals meet screening criteria will be invited to submit full proposals. Preproposals not meeting basic guidelines will be returned to the applicant with an explanation.
Full proposals submitted will then be evaluated by external reviewers and an Advisory Panel that makes funding recommendations. Final funding decisions are made by the Center’s Senior Vice President for Science and Business Development or by the Science, Education, and Technology Committee of the Center’s Board of Directors, depending on the dollar amount.
