North Carolina non-profit institutions, including K-12 schools, school systems, community colleges, private colleges, universities and museums are eligible to apply.

Proposals must be submitted using the electronic application form; hardcopies, faxes and e-mail will not be accepted. One submission per year. Please note: We are only accepting invited proposals at this point in the funding cycle (see below).

Evaluation Process

The evaluation process for the EEG program changed this year with the introduction of a requirement for preproposals.

For the 2010-2011 cycle, preproposals were due May 26th, 2010. These preproposals have been reviewed and applicants whose preproposals met screening criteria have been invited to submit full proposals. Proposals not meeting the basic guidelines have been returned to the applicant(s) with an explanation.

We are now in the full proposal submission stage. If you received an invitation to submit a full proposal, please carefully follow the instructions in the EEG Full Proposal Guidelines and Instructions.

If you did not submit a preproposal or did not receive an invitation to submit a full proposal, please check our web site in spring of 2011 for details about our EEG 2011-2012 Funding Cycle.

Proposals will be evaluated by external reviewers and an advisory panel that makes funding recommendations.  Final funding decisions are made by the Center’s Senior Vice President for Science and Business Development or by the Science, Education, and Technology Committee of the Center’s Board of Directors, depending on the dollar amount.
