We propose to develop a new radioprotector with improved bioavailability, safety and toxicity profiles for prevention of radiation-induced erectile dysfunction as well as proctitis and cystitis during prostate cancer radiotherapy. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in Americans, up to 50% of whom undergo radiotherapy.
