FDA established drug withdrawal times in swine years ago using few animals, not accounting for breed differences. This results in drug administration at too low or too high levels, increasing veterinary costs and possibly developing drug resistance. We will examine drug withdrawal times in pig breeds to evaluate genetic variation.
