Guest Blog: Help RTP Shine on Wall Street

I came to RTP two years ago. I was amazed by its array of businesses and wealth of opportunity.

Women in Bio Event

Monday May 19
5:30 p.m.

The region is consistently ranked on national surveys. Best place to live. Best place to start a company. Best place for female entrepreneurs. Home to cutting edge biotech, AgBio, technology and energy companies.

Still, I think RTP remains the best-kept secret.  I quickly became passionate about both the talented people and the technology.  Never have I seen so much enthusiasm and commitment for the products and services as I see here. But financing those ideas can be tough.

Next week, we have a tremendous opportunityWe have asked Heather Smith, Managing Director, Head of Private Financing Solutions at Sagent Advisors, New York City to come and speak and meet all of you — the fabulously talented men and women of RTP.

Heather Smith will speak in RTP May 19.
Heather Smith, Managing Director at Sagent Advisors, will speak May 19 in RTP

She is eager to learn about who we are and what we are passionate about. She is a champion of Life Science and Technology and hopes to make some great connections. She insisted on ample opportunity to ask questions and hopefully help to answer the questions that YOU have.

During her keynote, Heather will discuss the healthcare and technology landscape and how it shapes business strategy: from the grants we submit, the angel money we seek, the reimbursement we receive, to the regulatory environments we participate in.

She built the presentation to be applicable to everyone — if you are on the business or the scientific side in your company,  or building your own company, you will find value in the evening. Knowing trends and being able to articulate the value your ideas and projects will bring builds your value and the value of your overall organization.  The networking will be an opportunity to meet VCs, Angels, Business Owners, Scientists, regulatory consultants, recruiters, corporate management, as well as students hoping to join or run a venture some day.

Many thanks to our sponsors, Sanofi, Clinipace, Hamilton Point, and Pappas Ventures, who are also looking forward to meeting you.  Come and make new connections and gain insights to apply to your specific role of today and build your foundation for tomorrow.

Because of sponsor support, registration is only $25 for non-members. We promise it'll be worth it. You can register online.

Susan Nichols is president of Komedica and current chair of the Women in Bio RTP chapter. Women in Bio is full of talented and passionate women and men who want to support our community.  All are welcome for this event.
