Exclusive Deals for NC Companies: Desktop Access to Scientific Literature

The NCBiotech Library has pre-negotiated two exclusive deals for access to full-text scientific literature from publishers Elsevier and EBSCO. The cost of information continues to rise, and our growing companies in North Carolina often do not have the bandwidth to explore and negotiate access to information resources at an affordable cost. The Library has created several consortium opportunities and continues to explore this model with other vendors and resources.  We’re here to help you meet your information needs through our consortium, databases, customized research, and other services.

Pricing for these resources has been set, and it’s time to sign up for the 2014 calendar year!

Elsevier offers ScienceDirect Journals, eBooks and their Scopus citation database

The Library has had a long-running collaboration with Elsevier B.V. to offer their ScienceDirect® journals database, which includes more than 2,500 scientific journals. Companies based in North Carolina can purchase this package at a competitive rate of $1,375 per company researcher, with a minimum of 3 researchers.  For an additional cost, Elsevier also offers a collection of over 9,500 e-books spanning all scientific and medical disciplines, and Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources.

EBSCO offers a Biomedical Reference Collection and MEDLINE with Full Text

EBSCO Publishing is now offering access to two of their medical literature products, MEDLINE® with Full Text and the Biomedical Reference Collection. Together, these resources provide access to full text articles from more than 1,800 medical journals. North Carolina companies with up to 200 employees may participate at a cost of $1,000 to $2,000 per company per year, depending on company size.

Both vendors can provide your staff with training as needed, to encourage efficient use of the resources. Note that these deals are limited to small to mid-sized companies in North Carolina, but our vendor representatives will be happy to talk with any companies about additional options.

For further details and registration forms, see our Consortium Resources page, or contact the Consortium Coordinator Karin Shank to sign up today.

We'd appreciate your feedback and suggestions for the consortium at any time.
