Dr. Robert Lindberg directs the Biotechnology Center's BATON program, a resource to universities and research institutions that are seeking to create start-up companies to commercialize their life sciences technologies.

During his career at the Biotechnology Center, Dr. Lindberg has been responsible for technology assessment, due diligence and strategic planning on behalf of companies requesting loan support. Lindberg also assists young scientists with career planning and helped create the Center's Industrial Fellowship Program which provides transitional training for academic scientists seeking careers in industry. He has helped to craft regional and statewide economic development strategic plans.

Education

Dr. Lindberg holds undergraduate degrees in Music (Bellarmine College) and Mathematics (University of Louisville) and a Doctorate in Physiology and Biophysics (University of Louisville).

Dr. Lindberg is a microvascular physiologist (endothelial function in inflammation, thrombosis and cancer), and held postdoctoral fellowships at UNC-Chapel Hill and the Duke University Medical Center prior to joining the Biotechnology Center in 1999. He earned his Regulatory Affairs Certification (R.A.C.) in 2005 and served as the Technical Sales Director for VWR BioSciences before returning to the Biotechnology Center.
