Amy Black

Amy joined the Biotech Center in 1999 as Administrative Assistant to the Education & Training Program. She served as Sr. Administrative Assistant in the same department before advancing to her current position of Education & Training Program Specialist. She has been with the unit for 12 years.
As Program Specialist, Amy provides a variety of services, including developing, troubleshooting and running the Biotechnology Summer Workshops online registration. She serves as the contact for registrants as well as workshop project directors and coordinators, with Dr. Bill Schy providing oversight. Other responsibilities include updating and maintaining ETP website pages; developing online application pages for Education grant programs; responding to both in-house and outside requests for information; searching; tracking and reporting of various Education programs; and K-12 Teacher Support programs. Amy also provides oversight for the BioWork Process Technician Training program.
Amy is a native of West Virginia, relocating to North Carolina in 1982 with Union Carbide Agricultural Products. During her 14 years with Ag Products, she was Sr. Administrative Assistant to the Process Chemistry Department; then created and filled the position of Information Specialist in the Information Management Department.
Amy enjoys cooking, reading, Sudoku puzzles and music, and is a fair pianist.
