Labor Study Proves Charlotte a Winner

The Greater Charlotte region is positioned to absorb a large-scale recruitment project, according to the North Carolina Biopharma Manufacturing Labor Market Analysis. The analysis was put together by New Jersey-based site section and economic development consultants Biggins, Lacy, Shapiro & Co.

Duke Energy, the Charlotte Regional Partnership, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and Parsons sponsored the study, which vetted the biopharma manufacturing labor pool in the Greater Charlotte region to compile data for relocating companies.

The study examines the Greater Charlotte laborshed, which includes 12 North Carolina companies plus three South Carolina companies.

"Charlotte is a natural place for companies from Europe, the West and Northeast to expand due to our cost of doing business, quality of life and over 600 direct flights daily," said Marjorie Benbow, director of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center' Greater Charlotte office. "This biopharma manufacturing study provides independent vetting of another reason to select Charlotte - a talented labor supply."
