Christy Russell is responsible for developing strategic relationships and initiatives vital to expanding North Carolina's biotechnology industry. She connects Center strategies, activities and policies with external resources and acts as the Center's liaison to state and federal government.
Prior to joining the Biotechnology Center in 1996, Russell worked for ten years in the United States Senate in Washington for two North Carolina Senators and Senate Leadership.
She worked in the North Carolina General Assembly and Duke University following several years in the banking industry.
Russell has also contributed to strategic planning efforts for The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences. She spent a year with Cogent Neuroscience planning, among other things, the First Neurogenomics Symposium, which drew researchers from around the world.
